One Act Play Competition

Aldridge Repertory Theatre, Inc. is proud to announce the return of the one-act play competition. This year we are inviting middle and high school theatre groups to also participate. Aldridge is asking all entries highlight a person, place, or event related to Birmingham.

Eligibility and Guidelines

 All participants must be a current resident of Birmingham. 

 All submissions MUST:

  • - Be an original work that has not been produced, published or performed anywhere, including formal stage readings

  • - No more than one (1) script per playwright and per school

  • - Be accompanied by a submission form that is completed in its entirety 

  • - Follow a standard play script format: 

  •  - Use 12-point font and an ordinary font (Arial or Times New Roman) 

  • - Include a title page and character page

  • - Include a setting and time page 

  • - Be no more than thirty (30) minutes in performance length (about 12-15 typed pages) 

Note: The submission form, title page and setting page do not count towards the 12-15 typed page limit. 

 Prizes

 Adult Winner will receive $250 cash award and the opportunity to produce a staged reading with Aldridge Repertory Theater as a part of our regular 2018 season. 

 The School Winner will receive $250 award to the theatre/drama department and the opportunity to produce a staged reading with Aldridge Repertory Theater as a part of our    

  regular 2018 season. 

 Submissions:

 All eligible submissions must be postmarked no later than Monday, March 26, 2018 with one hard copy submitted to:

Must be mailed in and accompanied by a $35 submission fee in a money order or check. 

Submissions postmarked after March 26, 2018 will not be considered. The unopened submission will be returned.
